Writing in class

Today we have the choice to write about anything. As we all know, at least all of sweeny's students know about grammar schrammer but obviously certain people don't prepare for their presentation which leads me to explain the story of the day. So today I came to class waiting to hear someone's explanation as to how to use who/whom properly. Now the class is a nice size but As we all know we only see about 7,8, or 9 students per class. So two of the students were here, though totally unaware that it was their day to present, furthermore they were missing a student who so called had all the information for their presentation. They didn't have anything so they got online and presented something that was at hand. Guess I'm explaining the seriousness to the assignments which is little to none.

Creativity video

Currently in class we're watching a video that goes in depth about creativity. Special shout out to the German speaker, I don't remember his name. "Create an oasis of quality", he said. Makes sense of course. Here's how to use an oasis you've created; Prepare to tolerate the discomfort of being creative. Strangle creativity at birth. Before you make a decision, ask yourself when does this decision need to be made? Give your mind as long as possible to come up with something original. Don't be afraid of making a mistake. You have to risk saying things that are silly but you're being creative so technically nothing is wrong. Always remember a little humor is helpful so don't be too serious. You can laugh about a situation and it won't make a matter any less serious than what it is so don't get the wrong impression, just a little humor; laughter. Essential part of playfulness. Giggle all you want. Space, time, time, confidence. If you've put in the pondering time, you'll be fine. Always make sure the people that you like and trust are your surrounding rather having people who make you feel uncomfortable and try to be your " personal critic". If you don't know how to start, use random connections. Lastly, no one can really tell you how to be creative because that would contradict creativity from the start. Ahh, that's all.

The dread of writing that essay!

That essay,1500 words though. Whew! Took me a while to think of what I actually wanted to write about. I chose for my subtopic to be about homosexuality and why it shouldn't be criticized. Sadly I'm writing this blog right after I've written the essay and I really don't feel like typing but it's required so might as well get it out of the way. I believe this is the first time I've had to write a 1500 word essay but I'm pretty sure I'll have the hang of it by time we get to the second one. When essays are so long, it seems as if you run out of things to talk about but it's good that we have fairly easy topics to make an argument about. I know I've been talking about these essay for all my prior blogs but Sweeney said to try and make it class related so that's what I'm trying to do. I believe we'll be going over our essays tomorrow In class, this should be interesting. Wonder what everyone else talked about, sexuality of course but what sub-topic? hmm... I've really ran out of things to say so goodnight.

Class on Wednesday 2-6-13 (essay topic)

Now that we've chosen the top three topics for our 3 upcoming essays, brainstorming has taken place in the classroom. Our first essay topic, that was randomly selected will be on sexuality. Due to the numerous subtopics on this, it shouldn't be difficult at all to write a 1500 word paper plus citations. Some of the sexuality aspects; homosexuality, child-molestation, rape, marriage, abstinence, influence of the media on sex; sexuality, orgies, porn, lesbians, gays, gays in congress, prostitution, abortion, teen-pregnancy, STD's, birth control and etc. Seeing as this topic has so many options that are relatively common and less difficult in comparison to the other two topics, this essay will only be worth 10 percent I believe, leaving the other two with greater capacity when it comes to points. Our rough drafts are due on Monday, February 11th, 2013 for those who weren't in class and are wondering what the assignment is. Furthermore, I believe I'll do very well on all three essays even though I'm not too fond of writing papers and citations. If I'm not mistaken, the other two topics are family and pop culture, but I could be wrong so feel free to correct my memory.

class on friday 1-25-13

Class was definitely hectic on Friday. Professor Sweeney was assigning us essays but we all had to agree on three topics from a topic sheet and  that contained a variety of about 10.  No one could agree on anything and if someone did, there was always someone who rebelled. I wonder why he's making us do this because he could have easily let us choose our own personal three topics but instead he chose for us to have a class agreement along with stating that one voice could go against the whole classes vote. This made it real difficult and we only agreed on one by the end of class. I feel he's trying to see how we work as a team and if that's the case, I'm sure he can tell that we aren't much of a team! Attitudes arose along with rude remarks and etc. That's all.
